Black History Month Business Spotlight: 100Knoxville

“Our goal is to help Black-owned businesses in Knoxville grow by $10,000,000 in 5 years." -100Knoxville
Introduction:
Knoxville is home to a rich history of Black entrepreneurship and innovation, and no initiative highlights this better than 100Knoxville. Launched with the goal of investing in black-owned businesses, 100Knoxville is more than just a program, it's a movement.
As we celebrate Black History Month, it's essential to shine a light on the efforts driving economic growth for Black entrepreneurs in our community.
What is 100Knoxville?
100Knoxville is a community-driven initiative dedicated to growing Black businesses by $10 million over five years. Led by local business leaders, the program provides mentorship, funding, and resource to help Black entrepreneurs scale their businesses and create long-term success.
Each cohort of the program includes five Black-owned businesses, each receiving a $5,000 grant and access to an exclusive network of mentors and business leaders. The focus is on accelerating growth through strategic business coaching, financial guidance, and networking opportunities.
This initiative is not just about funding, it's about access. Black entrepreneurs often face barriers to capital, networks, and mentorship, which are critical components of business success. 100Knoxville bridges that gap by providing hands-on support from experienced professionals who want to see these businesses thrive.
The Impact on Knoxville's Business Community
Since its inception, 100Knoxville has empowered dozens of Black-owned businesses, providing them with the tools to scale, create jobs, and contribute to Knoxville's economic ecosystem. The ripple effect is undeniable: when Black businesses succeed, the entire community benefits through job creation, economic growth, and a more inclusive business environment.
