This week, we’re proud to highlight two amazing groups dedicated to empowering young girls in Knoxville — helping them build confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of purpose. Whether you’re interested in volunteering, participating, or supporting them, Connecting Knox makes it easy to discover and support causes that truly make a difference — all in one place.

Girls on the Run - Greater Knoxville

Since 1996, Girls on the Run has inspired girls across the country to know their worth, embrace their strength, and recognize that they are capable of anything. Luckily for us, the Greater Knoxville chapter, founded in 2005, continues to make a powerful impact right here at hom

Through a fun curriculum that combines physical activity, life lessons, and mentorship, girls learn teamwork, goal-setting, and self-confidence. By the end of each season, they don’t just cross a 5K finish line — they cross a milestone of personal growth and empowerment.

The mission of Girl Talk, Inc believes in empowering girls to become their best selves. This local nonprofit provides a safe, supportive environment where girls can connect, learn, and grow together.

Their wide range of programs includes one-on-one mentoring, school-based initiatives in Knox County Schools, retreats, college tours, and more — all designed to help young women build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills for the future.

From middle school to college-bound seniors, Girl Talk, Inc. walks alongside girls through every stage of growth — proving that when we invest in young women, we invest in the future of Knoxville.
