Community, Connection & History in Knoxville

July 14, 20252 min read

Our mission is simple: to link residents with the groups and organizations that support our neighbors and the Greater Knoxville Area. This week, we’re highlighting three groups that are deeply rooted in community impact — from preserving local history to improving access to healthcare and empowering women through service.

Whether you’re interested in volunteering, learning more about Knoxville’s past, or supporting neighbors in need, Connecting Knox makes it easy to discover causes that matter — all in one place.

Junior League of Knoxville

Junior League is all about helping women grow and lead — while giving back in meaningful ways. Through volunteering, teamwork, and hands-on training, members learn how to make a real difference in their communities.

Junior League equips members with the tools, training, and support they need to drive real change — both in their own lives and in the communities they serve.

Mabry-Hazen House

The Mabry-Hazen House is a historical site in Knoxville full of history. Three generations of the family lived in the house before ultimately being willed to be a museum. The museum offers a unique glimpse into the lives of those who once called it home. From Civil War stories to personal family artifacts, the house is filled with rich local history.

Today, the Hazen Historical Museum Foundation works to preserve the home and its stories, keeping this important piece of Knoxville’s past open and accessible for the community and visitors alike.

Knoxville Area Project Access

KAPA helps uninsured individuals in Knox County and surrounding counties get the medical care they need. By partnering with local doctors, hospitals, and medical professionals who generously donate their time and services, KAPA connects patients to essential healthcare they otherwise couldn’t afford.

Over the past 20 years, KAPA has helped more than 38,000 East Tennesseans access life-changing care — improving lives, one patient at a time.
