Big Brother Big Sisters of East TN: Sparking Passion and Potential

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee, the mission is simple but powerful: every child has potential — and they deserve the support to reach it. That’s why the organization matches kids and teens (called “Littles”) with caring adult mentors (“Bigs”) who step in as positive role models and trusted friends.

These one-on-one relationships provide support, structure, and encouragement — especially for kids who may lack stability in their lives.

Bigs and Littles spend time together a few times a month, engaging in fun and meaningful activities. These outings follow the REACH framework, which stands for:

• Recreation & Social Competency

• Education & Life Skills

• Arts & Culture

• Community Engagement

• Health & Well-Being

  

Beyond these regular meetings, Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee offers a range of program initiatives that create even more opportunities for Littles to grow, learn, and thrive:

BoldPath - A school-based program where BBBS staff work one-on-one and in small groups with students, acting as coaches to guide them through personal growth, goal setting, and positive decision-making.

Big Futures - Supports high school students through age 25 as they navigate key life milestones, including life after graduation and the transition into young adulthood.

S.T.E.M. Mentoring - Connects Bigs with STEM careers to Littles who share similar interests and aspirations.

Bigs in Blue - Builds trust and fosters positive relationships by connecting youth with local police officers, strengthening community ties.

High School Bigs - A program that invites high school students to become mentors themselves.

Each program is grounded in the same core values: connection, consistency, and care. No matter which path they take, every Little receives the support they need to succeed.
