Ride. Build. Connect: The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club Way

November 14, 20251 min read

Appalachian Mountain Bike Club is a local organization dedicated to building and maintaining trails throughout Knoxville and the surrounding area. As a chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA)—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on preserving trails and growing mountain biking across the Southeast—the club plays a key role in shaping our region’s outdoor recreation.

AMBC fuels Knoxville’s mountain biking community through a wide range of programs—monthly rides, youth activities, AMBC Joy Ride for women, and their annual fall festival.

But some of their most essential work happens behind the scenes: trail maintenance. With over 90 miles of local trails, AMBC is constantly repairing, refining, and dreaming up what’s next. Spot a problem on the trail? They want to hear about it so they can keep your ride smooth and safe.

Joining AMBC is about connecting with the greater outdoors of Knoxville and exploring the beautiful trails tucked into the quieter corners of our scruffy city.
